Contemporary Alpine Restaurant & Bar
Two-in-One
The project is a design proposal for a combined restaurant and bar, where the two entities are perceived as distinct and separate, while at the same time integrated in an overall, cohesive and contemporary concept design.
Cozy & Contemporary
We wanted to create a cozy and yet contemporary design, reflecting values such as authenticity and high quality. To achieve this, we used natural materials like wood, concrete and natural stone in a clean and sophisticated setting with soft textiles and warm colors. The lighting concept is used to differentiate the space, mark zones and create intimate ‘bubbles’ around the guests.
The Inter-locking Slabs
To create an experience of two separate yet integrated spaces, we conceived the idea of the two ‘interlocking slabs’. One ‘slab’ is in concrete and one is in wood, and they fold around each their space, while at the same time reaching into the other space and interlocking with each other. Between the bar and the restaurant - dividing and connecting the two spaces - is a large, rounded concrete ‘block’, a lounge area with a fireplace and a freestanding bar.
